Hotel
Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest
A luxury hotel in the Art Nouveau Gresham Palace, completed in 1906, facing the Chain Bridge across Széchenyi István tér.
An adults-only design hotel at the Buda end of the Chain Bridge, with 79 rooms, a bistro and a year-round rooftop bar, holding one Michelin Key.
Good to know
Hotel Clark stands at Clark Ádám tér, at the Buda end of the Chain Bridge, between the bridge and the lower station of the Castle Hill Funicular. Few hotels in the city are better placed for views: rooms look across the Danube to the Gresham Palace and the Pest skyline, up to Buda Castle, or over the Chain Bridge itself. The hotel holds one Michelin Key, which it kept for a second consecutive year in 2026.
The building is modern and minimalist from the outside, while the interiors mix postmodern playfulness with Art Deco touches. There are 79 rooms in several categories, named after their outlook: Chain Bridge-view rooms and studios, Danube-view rooms, castle-view rooms, quieter courtyard rooms and, at the top, the Clark Suite and studios with private terraces. If you are paying for a view, check which category you are booking.
The Leo Bistro restaurant serves guests and visitors, and the Leo Rooftop bar, open all year, offers cocktails and bar snacks with one of the best panoramas in Budapest; reservations are required, so book as soon as you arrive or before your stay. There is also a sauna, and the hotel hosts small art exhibitions and events.
Hotel Clark is adults only, with a minimum age of 14, which gives it a calm, grown-up atmosphere suited to couples and solo travellers. Pets are allowed for a nightly supplement. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is at noon. Rates are mid to upper range for Budapest and rise with the view, but the location means you can walk to most of the main sights on both sides of the river and avoid most public transport.
The funicular next door climbs to Buda Castle in a couple of minutes, and the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church are a short walk further north along Castle Hill. Crossing the Chain Bridge on foot brings you to Széchenyi István tér and St Stephen's Basilica in around ten minutes. Tram 19 and tram 41 run along the Buda embankment nearby, and Batthyány tér station on metro line M2 is about ten minutes' walk north.
