Best Restaurants in Taipei (2026)

Taipei is a superb city for eating out, and its restaurant scene runs from humble noodle counters to some of the region's most acclaimed dining rooms. At the top end, Le Palais and Taïrroir both hold three Michelin stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide Taiwan: Le Palais for refined Cantonese cooking, roast duck and dim sum near Taipei Main Station, and Taïrroir for chef Kai Ho's contemporary take on Taiwanese food. Mountain and Sea House revives elaborate historic banquet dishes in a 1930s-style mansion, and Golden Formosa in Tianmu serves classic Taiwanese family recipes with a star at moderate prices.

For everyday eating, beef noodle soup at Lao Shan Dong, trading since 1949, and braised pork rice at Huang Chi Lu Rou Fan are both Bib Gourmand picks and cost very little; both are cash only. The original Din Tai Fung on Xinyi Road remains a reliable introduction to xiaolongbao, though queues build at peak times. Book fine-dining restaurants well ahead, pre-order signature dishes such as Peking duck where advised, and remember that Taiwanese meals are designed for sharing, so a group of four or more gets to try the widest range of dishes.
