Good to know
No Más is a small, laid-back bar on Jalan Monkey Forest in central Ubud with a reputation for strong drinks, a friendly crowd and live music most nights. Its owners describe its mission as welcoming anyone looking for good company, and the atmosphere lives up to that: it is gritty, fun and unpretentious, more neighbourhood bar than cocktail lounge.
The interior has moody lighting, exposed brick and dark wood, with a gritty, urban feel and a touch of Latin flair, and the small dance floor fills up as the night goes on. The music line-up is varied, leaning towards funk, rock and indie, with reggae on some nights. Live bands play most nights, with gigs that have ranged from top 40 covers to rock, salsa, hip-hop and even heavier metal, and some evenings bring local and international DJs instead. The mix means that the mood changes from night to night, so it is worth checking the bar's social media to see what is on.
Drinks are simple and generous. The bar is well stocked with Bintang beer and makes cocktails such as the Bourbon Seduction and the Sayan Sunrise, and free pours and a long happy hour help keep prices reasonable by Ubud standards. Food is limited to simple bites, so eat beforehand at one of the restaurants nearby.
No Más opens in the late afternoon and stays open late, which makes it one of the few places in Ubud where a night can continue past midnight; recent guides list closing time as 1am, and the crowd often stays until well after midnight. It suits solo travellers, groups of friends and anyone who wants a lively, informal night with a band. It is not the place for a quiet drink once the music starts.
The bar is on Jalan Monkey Forest, which runs from the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary north to Ubud Palace and has several other nightlife options, including The Laughing Buddha and CP Lounge. Most central guesthouses and hotels are within walking distance, which is useful late at night, when metered taxis and ride-hailing pickups are not available in Ubud.
