Bar
Coco Bongo Cancún
Cancún's famous show nightclub in Punta Cancún, mixing an open bar with acrobats, tribute acts and Broadway-style productions until the early hours.
Grupo Anderson's party bar and restaurant in Punta Cancún, serving food and drinks with shows and entertainment from late morning until 2am.
Good to know
Señor Frog's is the party bar and restaurant of Grupo Anderson's, the Mexican group that also runs Harry's, Porfirio's and Fred's, and its Cancún branch is one of the fixtures of the Punta Cancún strip. It stands at kilometre 9.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán, in the same busy cluster as Coco Bongo and Mandala Beach, and it works as a restaurant by day and a party bar by night.
The format is casual. The kitchen serves international dishes, and the bar serves drinks alongside the shows and entertainment that are part of the evening. It opens every day from 11:00 until 2:00, so you can drop in for lunch after the beach and return later in the night.
The venue is large. It seats around 400 people at tables, and with the furniture cleared it can hold about 950, which gives an idea of the atmosphere on busy nights in high season. Groups of ten or more can book special events with a choice of three menus and an open bar through Grupo Anderson's events team.
Señor Frog's suits groups of friends and first-time visitors who want an easy, high-energy introduction to Cancún nightlife. It is less suited to anyone looking for a quiet dinner or a sophisticated cocktail bar; for that, the JW Lobby Bar or La 16 Speakeasy at kilometre 14.5 are better choices.
Because it opens long hours and serves food, Señor Frog's works well as a first stop before a show at Coco Bongo or a Wednesday night pool party at Mandala Beach, all within a few steps of each other. The public beach at Playa Gaviota Azul is also close by, reached through the alley beside Coco Bongo.
Menus, including group menus, can be downloaded from the Grupo Anderson's events site, and the venue offers WiFi. Most Hotel Zone nightlife starts to fill around 22:00, so arrive earlier if you want a table for dinner. México Desconocido's nightlife guide notes that the R-1 and R-2 buses run along the boulevard at a low flat fare, and taxis across the Hotel Zone are widely available for the trip back to your hotel.
