De L’Europe Amsterdam
A grand riverside hotel at Muntplein, opened in 1896, with 107 rooms and suites, a pool and spa, and several restaurants overlooking the Amstel.

Good to know
Sir Albert is a contemporary boutique hotel at the western end of Albert Cuypstraat, the street that gives the hotel its name and is home to the city's best-known market further along. The hotel describes its setting as the Quartier Latin of Amsterdam, a name for the area where De Pijp meets the Museum Quarter, and it presents itself as a sophisticated world of stylish and contemporary living. It belongs to the Sir Hotels group, which has several properties in Amsterdam and other European cities.
The hotel's restaurant and bar, IZAKAYA Asian Kitchen and Bar, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is Japanese with a South American influence, and its Robata grill is a feature, while the bar is known for cocktails. Reserve a table if you want dinner at a busy time. A gym is due to open, and the hotel says guests will have free access.
Sir Albert suits couples and solo travellers who like design-led hotels with a social bar, and it works well for anyone who wants to be between the museums and the restaurants of De Pijp. It is less suited to those looking for a traditional canal-house atmosphere.
Contact the hotel by phone or email for bookings and questions. Rooms vary in size and layout, so check the descriptions on the website when choosing.
The location is a particular strength. The Albert Cuyp Market starts a short walk to the east, with Sarphatipark and the cafés of De Pijp beyond it, while the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Heineken Experience are all within about ten minutes on foot. Trams stop on Ferdinand Bolstraat and Stadhouderskade, close to the hotel, and the De Pijp metro station on the Noord-Zuid line gives a fast link to Central Station. Vondelpark is about 15 minutes' walk to the west, making it easy to plan a day of museums, a picnic and dinner without needing transport at all. Arriving from Schiphol, trains run to Amsterdam Zuid and Central Station, and from either a metro or tram brings you close to the hotel in a few minutes. Ask the hotel about luggage storage if you arrive before check-in or leave after check-out.
