Café
Monmouth Coffee Borough
A specialty coffee shop and roaster's outlet at Borough Market, serving filter and espresso coffee and selling beans that can be sampled in store.
A family-run Italian espresso bar on Frith Street, opened in 1949 and open from early morning until the small hours.
Good to know
Bar Italia was opened by the Polledri family on Frith Street in the winter of 1949 and is now run by its third and fourth generations. With its long counter, vintage fittings and late hours, it has long been a meeting point for Soho regulars, theatregoers and night owls.
Order an espresso or cappuccino at the bar and take a seat on the pavement to watch Soho go by. It opens at 07:00 and serves until 04:00, so it works as a breakfast stop or a final coffee after a night out. Look up as you leave: the building is where John Logie Baird gave a public demonstration of television in 1926. Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square stations are both within a few minutes' walk.
