Bar
Harry’s New York Bar
A historic American-style bar near the Opéra, open since 1911 and long said to be the birthplace of the Bloody Mary and the French 75.
The well-known bar of Le Meurice on Rue de Rivoli, opposite the Tuileries, with live jazz every night.
Good to know
Bar 228 takes its name from Le Meurice's address on Rue de Rivoli, facing the Tuileries Garden. It is one of the best-known hotel bars in Paris, a polished, old-school room for cocktails and Champagne, and its nightly live jazz gives evenings here an easy, unhurried rhythm.
It works well as a pre-dinner stop after the Louvre or the Tuileries, or as a late drink in the 1st arrondissement, where independent bars are thinner on the ground. Smart dress suits the setting. Note that dogs, welcome elsewhere in the hotel, are not allowed in Bar 228.
