Best Cafés in Santiago (2026)

Some of Santiago's most memorable cafés are inside historic buildings. La Huérfana serves specialty coffee and vegetarian food in the restored Palacio Pereira, Justicia Café occupies the old card-catalogue room of the National Library on the Alameda, and Cory, an Austrian pastry shop known for its torta Mozart, sits in a room of the Teatro Municipal decorated with dancers' costumes. The Castillo Forestal, a French-style castle of 1910 opposite the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, serves breakfast, brunch and coffee every day.

For something sweet, Emporio La Rosa's original shop on Merced, opened in 2001, is the place to try ice-cream flavours such as lúcuma and ulmo honey. Specialty coffee fans should head to Puelo Coffee Roasters in Vitacura, which roasts its beans on site and won a Specialty Coffee Association design award in 2025. Many of the central cafés keep office hours and close on Sundays, so check times before planning a weekend visit.
