Why we recommend it

Mosaic House is a modern design hotel on Odborů, a quiet street in the New Town between Karlovo náměstí and the Vltava. It describes itself as a quiet spot in a trendy neighbourhood, and it places a strong emphasis on sustainability, using intelligent measures to save energy and water without reducing comfort. The result is a mid-range hotel with a contemporary feel and a good balance between price, comfort and location.

Rooms come in several categories. Standard rooms are doubles or twins of 18 to 22 square metres, Comfort rooms are larger and add a sofa, and Superior rooms have a green terrace or balcony, which is a welcome extra in the city centre. At the top, the Penthouse Suite has a large roof terrace. For families or longer stays, the same team runs MOOo Downtown Luxury Apartments a few steps away, with one to three bedrooms and full kitchens.

The hotel's eating and drinking spaces are a highlight. QQ Asian Kitchen, inside the hotel, serves creative dishes drawing on flavours from across Asia. Café Mosaic is set in a high-ceilinged former theatre hall and is open daily from 08:00 to 23:30 for coffee, cake, wine and snacks, with a courtyard garden for drinks outside in good weather. The neighbourhood around the hotel has plenty of other bars and bakeries. There is an electric vehicle charging station for guests arriving by car.

Mosaic House suits couples, friends travelling together and solo travellers who want a stylish hotel at a sensible price, as well as families who can use the apartments. The location is central without being in the middle of the crowds. The hotel gives walking times of about 12 minutes to Wenceslas Square and 15 minutes to Old Town Square and Charles Bridge, and around half an hour to Prague Castle.

Karlovo náměstí metro station on line B and several tram stops are close by, and the Vltava embankment, the Dancing House and the Saturday farmers' market at Náplavka are within a short walk. The hotel's website gives directions by taxi, public transport and car from the airport, Florenc bus station and the main railway station.
