Why we recommend it

Jam Hotel Brussels is an affordable design hotel in Saint-Gilles, housed within the walls of a former art school. It was the first hotel of the Jam group, and its creative, relaxed style reflects both its building and its neighbourhood, a lively residential district just south of the centre known for its Art Nouveau architecture and its cafés.

The rooms are designed around capacity, with six types from Super and Extra for two people to Hyper, Ultra, Supra and Mega rooms sleeping three to six. This makes Jam especially useful for families and groups of friends, who can share a single room rather than booking several. The design is simple and functional, keeping prices accessible compared with central hotels.

The facilities are unusual for a hotel at this level. There is an indoor pool, open to hotel guests from 09:00 to 19:00, and Atsukan, a sento-style spa inspired by Japanese bathhouses, with a sauna and a bar serving Japanese spirits, teas and small bites. The rooftop bar is temporarily closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in November 2026. Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:30 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 11:00 at weekends.

The hotel suits budget-conscious travellers, families, groups and anyone who prefers a neighbourhood atmosphere to the tourist centre. It also works well for visitors interested in Art Nouveau, as many of the finest houses, including the Horta Museum, are in Saint-Gilles and neighbouring Ixelles.

The Janson tram stop is about 150 metres away, and Louise metro station is around a kilometre from the hotel, so the old town is easy to reach by public transport. Brussels-Midi station, with its international trains, is just under half an hour's walk away, so a tram or taxi is the easier option with luggage.

Group rates are available for bookings of more than five rooms. Check the hotel's website for current room prices and for news on the rooftop bar's reopening, which will add a view over the city to the hotel's attractions. Larger rooms work out particularly good value when split between several people, so groups should compare the cost per person with booking separate rooms elsewhere.
