Good to know
Pinkbox Doughnuts is a Las Vegas doughnut brand that has become a favourite with locals and visitors. The company now runs around ten branches in the Las Vegas area, and the one inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino at the western end of Fremont Street is the most convenient for visitors staying Downtown or exploring the old casinos.
A box of doughnuts is made for sharing, and choosing from the display cases is part of the fun. Alongside the classics, a Doughnut of the Month brings a limited-time flavour; in October, for example, it was Apple of My Eye, a caramel-drizzled apple pie doughnut on a stick. Ordering a mixed box lets you try a few flavours at once, and children in particular enjoy choosing from the cases.
The Plaza branch keeps late hours to suit Downtown's night owls. It opens at 5am every day and stays open until 2am from Sunday to Thursday and until 3am on Friday and Saturday, or until the doughnuts sell out. That makes it equally useful for an early breakfast before a day trip or a sweet snack after an evening under the Fremont Street canopy.
Pinkbox suits families, budget travellers and anyone with a sweet tooth. It is a quick stop rather than a place to linger, and prices are low. Popular flavours can run out late in the evening, so if you have your heart set on a particular doughnut, go earlier. Other branches include Boca Park, Summerlin, Henderson and a 24-hour drive-through on East Sunset Road, and there is a counter at Bagelmania near the Strip and at Allegiant Stadium on event days.
Doughnuts travel well, so a box makes an easy breakfast for a group heading out early on a day trip, or a treat to take back to the hotel room.
The Plaza sits at the western end of the Fremont Street Experience, at the corner of Main Street, so you can walk straight from the doughnut counter to the canopy, the stages and the casinos along the street. The Mob Museum and Carson Kitchen are a short walk away. Downtown is a short taxi, ride-share or bus ride from the Strip.
