Hotel
Hotel Copernicus
A five-star boutique hotel in an early 16th-century house on Kanonicza Street below Wawel, the first Polish member of Relais & Châteaux.
A sociable adults-only hostel on Floriańska Street with mixed dorms for four to twelve, free buffet breakfast and dinner, and a well-stocked guest kitchen.
Good to know
Greg & Tom Beer House Hostel is one of three Kraków hostels run by the Greg & Tom team, and it has the most enviable address of the group: Floriańska Street, one of the oldest streets in the city and the main stretch of the Royal Route between St Florian's Gate and the Main Market Square. Staying here means the Old Town's sights, cafés and bars are on the doorstep, at a fraction of the price of the hotels on the same street.
The Beer House offers mixed dormitories sleeping from four to twelve people. It is an adults-only property, open to guests over 18, which shapes the atmosphere: this is a sociable hostel aimed at independent travellers, backpackers and groups of friends who want to meet other people rather than a quiet family base. The common areas, with comfortable sofas and plenty of space, are designed for getting to know fellow guests.
What sets the Greg & Tom hostels apart from many budget options is food. Every day the team serves a free buffet breakfast and a free buffet dinner, which makes a real difference to a tight travel budget. Guests also have the use of a fully equipped kitchen with unlimited tea and coffee, fresh fruit and snacks, and free Wi-Fi runs throughout. Between the included meals and the central location, it is possible to keep daily spending very low.
The hostel suits solo travellers, students and young groups exploring Kraków on a budget. It is less suited to families, as under-18s cannot stay, or to anyone who needs a private bathroom. If you would prefer a private room, the group's Home hostel on Pawia Street, about three minutes' walk from Kraków Główny station, offers private rooms as well as smaller dorms, and its City Hostel on Zyblikiewicza Street has dorms of four to ten beds.
Booking is made through the hostel's website, where a contact form handles questions. Floriańska is a short walk from Kraków Główny station, so arriving by train with a backpack is easy. From the door, the Main Market Square is a few minutes' walk in one direction and the Barbican and the Planty in the other, so you can explore most of the Old Town on foot without needing public transport.
At ul. Floriańska 43, on the Royal Route in the Old Town.
