Why we recommend it

Paris Walks was founded in 1994 by Peter and Oriel Caine, and it has built a loyal following for its English-language walks led by native English-speaking guides who have lived in France for many years. The programme covers neighbourhoods such as Montmartre, the Marais and the Île Saint-Louis, alongside themed walks on food, chocolate and fashion, and guided visits to the Louvre and Orsay.

From March to November at least one scheduled walk runs daily at 10.30am, and the monthly programme on the website lists what is on. Private tours, including family walks, can be arranged by email. It is a good choice if you prefer history and stories to a quick checklist of sights.
