Good to know
Kite Beach is the liveliest of Dubai's free public beaches, a long, wide strip of sand in Umm Suqeim with Burj Al Arab rising in the distance. As the name suggests, it is popular with kitesurfers when the wind picks up, and there are watersports operators, and a running track along the promenade.
A string of casual cafés and food trucks means there is no need to pack lunch, and it draws families, runners and paddleboarders alike. Arrive early in the morning or in the late afternoon to avoid the strongest sun, especially between May and September, when the midday heat is fierce. Shade is limited, so bring a hat and plenty of water, and remember that modest swimwear is expected on public beaches.
