Bar
Jigger & Pony
Award-winning cocktail bar at Amara Singapore in Tanjong Pagar, ranked No. 9 in The World's 50 Best Bars 2025, known for polished classics.
The Raffles Singapore bar where the Singapore Sling was created in 1915, with plantation-style décor and a tradition of peanut shells on the floor.
Good to know
Long Bar at Raffles Singapore is where bartender Ngiam Tong Boon created the Singapore Sling in 1915, and the gin-based, fruit-and-liqueur cocktail remains the reason most visitors come. The two-storey bar is styled on Malayan plantation life, with rattan furniture and slowly turning fans, and guests are encouraged to brush peanut shells on to the floor, a rare piece of licensed mess in tidy Singapore.
It is firmly on the tourist trail, so expect a queue in the afternoon and early evening; arriving soon after opening helps. The Sling is the obvious order, but the menu also covers other cocktails, beers and bar snacks. City Hall and Esplanade MRT stations are both a short walk away.
