Café
Chye Seng Huat Hardware
Specialty coffee bar and roastery in a former hardware shop on Tyrwhitt Road, one of the cafés that shaped Singapore's third-wave coffee scene.
Small specialty roaster and espresso bar tucked into an Everton Park housing estate near Outram, focused on carefully sourced, seasonal coffees.
Nylon Coffee Roasters occupies a compact ground-floor unit in an Everton Park housing estate, between Outram and Tanjong Pagar, and it is a pilgrimage spot for Singapore's coffee enthusiasts. Most of the space is given over to the roaster and the espresso bar, with just a few seats, so this is more a place to talk coffee with the baristas than to settle in with a laptop.
Order an espresso or a filter of whatever is in season, and ask about the origins on the bar. It is a daytime operation, opening from 8.30am on weekdays and 9am at weekends until 4.30pm, and it closes every Tuesday. Outram Park MRT station is about ten minutes' walk, and Tiong Bahru is close by.
