Café
1. La Cabra Al Qurum
The first Oman branch of the Danish coffee roaster and bakery, serving specialty coffee, sourdough and handmade pastries in Al Qurum from 7am daily.
View details — La Cabra Al QurumCoffee is central to Omani hospitality, and Muscat's café scene now runs from traditional breakfasts to international specialty roasters. For a cultural start to the day, Dukanah Cafe in Al Ghubrah South serves Omani breakfasts in clay pots in a room styled like an old mud house, and it sits close to the Grand Mosque, which opens to visitors at 8am. Pasha Café, on the sky bridge between Grand Millennium Muscat and Muscat Grand Mall, pairs Omani breakfast with Turkish coffee.
Al Qurum has become the centre for specialty coffee. La Cabra, the Danish roaster and bakery, serves sourdough, pastries and seasonal coffee from 7am daily, and % Arabica, opposite Qurum Natural Park, brews single-origin coffee by Chemex and roasts its beans in store. In Shatti Al Qurum, Mani's Café bakes its own bread and is a favourite for brunch and cakes, while D'Arcy's Kitchen serves British comfort food from full English breakfasts to apple crumble. Most cafés are busiest on Friday and Saturday mornings, and hours change during Ramadan, so check before you go. Indoor, air-conditioned cafés are also a welcome refuge during the hottest part of the day.
