Good to know
The Oberoi, Mumbai is a five-star deluxe hotel at Nariman Point, at the southern end of Marine Drive. It is one of the city's top business and luxury addresses, and in 2026 it was ranked first among city hotels in India in the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards. The style is contemporary rather than historic.
There are 237 rooms and suites, from Luxury, Bay View and Premier rooms to a series of suites up to the Presidential Suite. Depending on the room, the views take in the Arabian Sea, the curve of Marine Drive known as the Queen's Necklace, Mumbai harbour or the city skyline, so it is worth paying for a sea view if you can. All rooms have air purification systems, and butler service is provided for suite guests. Facilities include a spa, a fitness centre and a temperature-controlled outdoor pool set in a private courtyard, with poolside dining in the evening.
The hotel's restaurants are a destination in themselves. Ziya serves modern Indian cuisine created by the Michelin-starred mentor chef Vineet Bhatia, with ocean views, and opens for lunch and dinner. Fenix is the all-day international restaurant, opening onto the atrium lobby, and Vetro serves breakfast and dinner. For drinks, Eau Bar has Art Deco interiors and an outdoor deck over the sea, and there are also a Champagne Lounge, a Cigar Lounge and The Oberoi Patisserie.
The Oberoi suits business travellers, couples and anyone who values service and comfort over historic character. It also pays attention to women travelling alone. Pets are not permitted. The hotel generates around half of its daily power from renewable energy through a solar partnership, and there is EV charging on site. Rates are at the top end of the Mumbai market, especially for sea-view rooms and suites. If the reservation phone lines are busy, the hotel suggests contacting the reservations team by email.
Nariman Point is South Mumbai's business district, and the hotel is well placed for a walk along Marine Drive to Girgaum Chowpatty, particularly at sunset. The Gateway of India, Colaba and the Fort's museums and galleries are a short taxi ride away.
