Good to know
The Hyatt Regency Casablanca has one of the most convenient addresses in the city. It stands on United Nations Square, the hinge between the old medina and the modern centre, within walking distance of the medina's lanes, the port and the start of Boulevard Mohammed V, and close to the business district. That location, together with a five-star rating and a full range of facilities, has made it a fixture for both leisure and business travellers.
The hotel has 255 rooms and suites, many with views over the city. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa with a traditional hammam, which is a welcome way to recover after a day walking around the medina or the Art Deco streets. Event spaces add up to around 2,500 square metres and can be configured for large conferences or small meetings, so it is well set up for business and event guests.
Dining covers two styles. Café M has French brasserie influences, while Dar Beida serves classic Moroccan dishes, which gives guests a choice without leaving the hotel. The Living Room, a large central bar-lounge, is a popular meeting place for business travellers and a comfortable spot for an evening drink.
The Hyatt Regency suits travellers who want to be in the thick of the historic centre with the comforts of an international hotel, including business travellers, couples and families who appreciate a pool after sightseeing. It is less of a resort than the hotels on the Corniche, but it saves time getting to the main sights. If you are visiting for leisure, ask about the pool and spa hours when you check in so you can plan a break in the middle of a hot day.
From the hotel you can walk into the old medina in minutes, visit Café de France on the same square, stroll along Boulevard Mohammed V to the Central Market, and reach Rick's Café and the Sqala bastion on foot. The Hassan II Mosque is a short taxi ride away along the seafront, and Casa Port station is close by if you plan train trips to Rabat or other cities.
