Pergamino Café Laureles
Pergamino's Laureles café, set in a traditional house and ranked 38th in South America's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026, serving traceable coffee from 1,500 partner growers.
A two-floor Laureles roastery and café that buys its coffee from growers in Medellín's La Sierra neighbourhood, ranked among South America's 100 best coffee shops in 2026.
Good to know
Rituales Compañía de Café calls itself the coffee of La Sierra, a hillside neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Medellín, and that link is what makes it special. For nine years the business has worked directly with coffee producers in La Sierra, and it buys from around forty grower families there, paying them premiums for their crop. In September 2026 it was ranked 64th in the South America's 100 Best Coffee Shops list, one of only three Medellín cafés to make the top 100.
The café is in Laureles, near Avenida Jardín, in a two-floor building that is a roastery first and a café second. Rituales has been roasting its own coffee since 2017, and its coffee has won awards. The operation is run by a team made up entirely of women, a point the city's public broadcaster highlighted when the ranking was announced.
At the bar you can order espresso-based drinks or filter coffee made by pour-over, and it is worth asking the baristas about the current La Sierra lots. There is also a short cocktail list, plus beer and wine, and the baked goods and sandwiches are substantial enough for a light lunch. Vegetarian options are available, and you can take coffee and food away.
Of the two floors, upstairs is the quieter one and suits laptop work or a long conversation. There is outdoor seating, the café is dog-friendly, and tables can be reserved. Beans can also be bought through the café's online shop, which makes it a good place to pick up coffee to take home and support the growers behind it.
Rituales suits coffee enthusiasts, remote workers and anyone interested in the social side of Colombian coffee. Because the coffee comes from within the city itself, a cup here directly supports growers working within Medellín's own boundaries. For opening times and current offers, check the café's Instagram account, rituales.cafe, or message the team on WhatsApp.
In Laureles, Rituales combines easily with Pergamino's café on Circular 73, which was ranked 38th in the same 2026 list, for a morning comparing two of the city's leading coffee houses.
