Why we recommend it

The Lodhi is one of the most design-led of Delhi's luxury hotels, a calm, contemporary retreat on Lodhi Road between Lodhi Garden and Humayun's Tomb. It was designed by the architect Kerry Hill, who brought together a modern, restrained style with Indian elements such as jaali lattice screens, rough and smooth stone and lofty ceilings. The building is set among gardens, and the overall effect is one of space and quiet, unusual in such a central location. It holds one Key in the MICHELIN Guide's hotel selection.

Accommodation is spread across rooms and suites, and suites have their own private plunge pools, a rare luxury in the city. The main pool is a 50-metre lap pool beside the gym, heated in winter, which makes it a real asset for swimmers in every season, and the gardens around it are a pleasant place to read or rest between sightseeing trips.

Dining is a major reason to stay. Indian Accent, one of India's most acclaimed restaurants, is in the hotel, and it is worth reserving a table well before you arrive. Elan is known for its Victorian-style high tea, Perbacco serves Italian food and received two stars in the Epicurean Ratings 2025, and there are also the Safari Lounge, The Pool Cafe and the Lodhi Bakery.

The Lodhi Spa and The Lodhi Salon offer a full menu of treatments, and the gardens are pleasant for an evening walk. The overall atmosphere is low-key and private, rather than grand, which appeals to travellers who find palace-style hotels too formal.

It suits couples, design-conscious travellers and anyone who wants a peaceful base with excellent food. The location is ideal for some of the city's most rewarding sights: Lodhi Garden, Humayun's Tomb, Sunder Nursery and the Nizamuddin area are all close, and Khan Market and India Gate are a short drive away. Rates are at the luxury end, especially from October to March.

Reservations can be made through the website, by phone or by email. Even if you are staying elsewhere, a meal at Indian Accent or high tea at Elan is a good way to experience the hotel.
