Hotel
Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik
A five-star seafront hotel in Ploče, a five-minute walk from the Old Town walls, with a private beach, spa and indoor pool and a guest list…
A five-star boutique hotel carved into the cliffs west of the Old Town, with a lift down to its own pebble beach and the Michelin-listed Vapor restaurant.
Good to know
Hotel Bellevue is built into the side of a cliff above a small cove, about 1.4 kilometres west of the Old Town. A five-star boutique property in the Adriatic Luxury Hotels group, it combines dramatic sea views with a beach of its own, which guests reach by taking the lift down to a pebble cove at the base of the cliffs.
The rooms look out over the open Adriatic, and the Classic Room Miramare category is in the original white stone wing of the building. Dining is a strength. Vapor, the hotel's main restaurant, is recommended by the Michelin Guide, and its interior and the Spice Lounge have recently been redesigned. Nevera, a restaurant set in a cave, opens in the summer months from May to September, and The Wine Bar offers a quieter spot for an evening glass. A wellness and spa area completes the facilities.
The Bellevue suits couples and travellers who want a smaller, more intimate hotel than the large resorts, with the beach and the Old Town both within easy reach. The walk to the Pile Gate takes about ten minutes along the coastal road, so you can reach the walls before the crowds in the morning and return for a swim in the afternoon. Guests with limited mobility should discuss room location when booking, as the hotel is set into a cliffside.
Beach services for guests are available in the summer season. As with the other hotels in the group, seasonal venues close outside the summer, so check which facilities are open if you plan a winter stay. Prices are at the luxury end, especially for sea-view rooms in July and August.
Book through Adriatic Luxury Hotels reservations by phone or email. Ask for a high floor with a balcony for the best views of the sunset over the sea, and reserve a table at Vapor early in your stay if you want to dine there on a specific night. For a special evening without leaving the property, combine sunset drinks at The Wine Bar with dinner at Vapor, and keep the following morning free for an early swim from the cove below.
