Why we recommend it

Aman Tokyo occupies the upper floors of Otemachi Tower, a short walk from Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace, and it translates the calm of a Japanese ryokan into a high-rise setting. Accommodation is arranged as suites, with restrained natural materials and large windows over the city, and the whole hotel is designed around a quiet, unhurried pace.

The Aman Spa is a major draw, with onsen-style hot baths, steam rooms, yoga and Pilates studios and a 30-metre pool looking out over the skyline. Dining includes Arva for Italian cooking, Musashi by Aman for omakase sushi, a patisserie and a café. It is an expensive choice, but location and wellbeing facilities are hard to match. Otemachi Station is close by, and Tokyo Station is within walking distance.
