Paris's great Gothic cathedral on the Île de la Cité, restored after the 2019 fire and reopened to visitors and worshippers in December 2024.
Good to know
Notre-Dame reopened on 7 December 2024 after more than five years of restoration following the April 2019 fire, and the cleaned stonework now gives the nave a brightness few living visitors had seen. Highlights include the great rose windows, the rebuilt spire and roof structure, and the carved portals of the west front.
Entry to the cathedral is free. A free reservation system lets you book a 30-minute entry slot, and it is worth using during school holidays when the walk-up queue can be long. The Treasury requires a separate ticket. Come early in the morning, and combine the visit with Sainte-Chapelle, a short walk away on the same island.
