Why we recommend it

The Click Clack Hotel Medellín is the second hotel from the Colombian Click Clack brand, set in El Poblado. The hotel describes itself as an urban oasis that brings together contemporary design and local nature, and as a cultural, gastronomic and commercial ecosystem rather than simply a place to sleep. The Michelin Guide calls the building a striking piece of modern architecture and the hotel unapologetically upscale.

Its 123 rooms are graded by size, like clothing. They range from the XS Economy room of 16 square metres, through Standard and Superior doubles and twins of 18 and 20 square metres, to the L Junior Suite, the XL Suite, the 40 square metre 2XL Deluxe Suite and the 3XL Suite Duplex of 45 square metres. Superior rooms have a balcony for morning coffee with a view. Michelin's inspectors describe the rooms as polished and luxe, with rich dark colours and playful touches such as small terrariums set on top of the bedside lamps.

The hotel's restaurants are presented as destinations in their own right, and brunch is particularly popular. There is a poolside bar, and the cocktail lounge has become a local nightspot, so expect a lively atmosphere in the evenings. The rooftop, Náufrago, is open to non-guests from midday until late every day, with a pool, loungers, DJs and a seafood menu inspired by coastal recipes from across Latin America. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a shuttle service and a wake-up service. The hotel is pet-friendly and entirely non-smoking.

Click Clack also hosts events, with spaces ranging from a boardroom for up to ten people to the 4XL hall for up to 180 and an outdoor area called Click Clack Park, and it publishes a cultural agenda through its Click Clack Lab programme. The hotel's own list of nearby sights includes the MAMM, Pueblito Paisa, the Museo Casa de la Memoria, Plaza Botero, Parque Explora and tours of Comuna 13.

The hotel suits design-minded couples, groups of friends and business travellers who want to be close to El Poblado's nightlife. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out at 12:00. Foreign travellers are generally exempt from the VAT and service charge applied to Colombian guests. The hotel stands a few blocks from Provenza on Carrera 37, close to the bars and restaurants of Provenza; Carmen and XO are on neighbouring Carrera 36. Book through the hotel's website or by email at [email protected].
