Good to know
Ten 11 Beach is a specialty coffee shop on the promenade at Mamsha Al Saadiyat, the beachfront community on Saadiyat Island, and its terrace looks out over Soul Beach and the waters of the Gulf. It is one of the most pleasant places on the island for a morning coffee, and its photogenic setting and plates make it popular with people who like to photograph their breakfast.
Coffee is taken seriously here. Beans come from origins ranging from Ethiopia to Brazil, and the baristas brew with several methods, including Aeropress, Chemex, V60, French press, pour-over, cold brew and cold drip. If you prefer something sweeter, there is a Spanish latte, a rose-infused latte and a saffron latte, as well as a cold frappé, and the café also serves Cascara, a drink made from the dried skins of coffee cherries. Smoothies, juices and iced teas complete the list, and bottled coffees are available to take away.
The breakfast menu takes familiar ingredients and combines them in unusual ways. Options include labneh with poached eggs, eggs benedict, manakish with akkawi and parmesan, a za'atar flatbread with burrata and figs, a croissant sandwich with salmon and tzatziki, smashed avocado with a poached egg and an acai bowl. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, even if the food is carefully thought through.
The café suits couples, friends and solo visitors who want a calm start to the day by the sea, and it is a convenient stop if you are staying on Saadiyat or visiting the Cultural District. It opens early in the morning, so it works well before a day at the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the newer museums nearby. The terrace is best in the cooler months from late October to April; in summer, arrive early before the heat builds.
Mamsha Al Saadiyat is close to the Saadiyat Cultural District and easy to reach by taxi from the city. Combine a coffee here with a walk along the promenade or time on the beach, then head to Louvre Abu Dhabi, which is a short drive away. There are other cafés and restaurants along the promenade if you want to stay on for lunch.
