Café
VCR Galloway
VCR began in a 1927 house on Jalan Galloway in Pudu and remains one of Kuala Lumpur's best-loved cafes for specialty coffee, big breakfasts and cakes.
Opened in 2013 on Jalan Mesui, Feeka Coffee Roasters is a Bukit Bintang favourite for house-roasted coffee and all-day brunch in a leafy shophouse setting.
Good to know
Feeka Coffee Roasters is one of the most dependable cafes in the Bukit Bintang area and a pioneer of Kuala Lumpur's specialty coffee scene. Its first outlet opened in 2013 on Jalan Mesui, a side street a few minutes' walk from the Bukit Bintang shopping area and the bars of Changkat Bukit Bintang, and the brand has since added further branches in the Klang Valley, including Platinum Park, The Five and Petaling Jaya. The Jalan Mesui original is still the one most visitors head to.
The cafe occupies a converted shophouse with bare walls, earthy tones and plenty of greenery, and there is an outdoor area for those who prefer to sit outside when the weather allows. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, so it is a good spot for a long breakfast, a catch-up with friends or an hour of work.
Coffee is the focus, as the name suggests, with drinks made carefully from the cafe's own roasts. Ask the baristas about the current beans if you prefer filter or black coffee, or stick with a flat white or latte. The food menu runs through the day and leans towards brunch: Turkish-style poached eggs are a signature, along with French toast, pancakes and smoothie bowls, and the wider menu has pastas and heartier plates such as fried chicken. Portions are generous and prices are typical of specialty cafes in the city.
Feeka opens early and stays open into the evening, which makes it useful for both breakfast before sightseeing and a late afternoon break; Tourism Malaysia lists it as open daily from 8am to 10pm. Weekend brunch is the busiest time, so come early or on a weekday for the best choice of tables. It suits couples, solo travellers, remote workers and groups of friends, and it is an easy, central meeting point.
Jalan Mesui is in the heart of the Bukit Bintang entertainment district, so Feeka combines well with shopping on Jalan Bukit Bintang, dinner on Jalan Alor or drinks on Changkat Bukit Bintang. Raja Chulan and Bukit Bintang monorail stations are both within walking distance, as is Bukit Bintang MRT station.
