Restaurant
Erth
A Michelin-starred modern Emirati restaurant within the Qasr Al Hosn cultural site, cooking with ingredients from farms across the Emirates.
The Abu Dhabi branch of Dubai's 3Fils, at the Al Bateen marina, a casual contemporary Japanese restaurant named Michelin Opening of the Year with a Bib Gourmand.
Good to know
3Fils was already well known in Dubai when, in July 2025, it opened a second branch at The Abu Dhabi EDITION in Al Bateen, overlooking the marina. The move was a success: in the 2026 Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi it was awarded a Bib Gourmand for good cooking at good value, and it also received the guide's Opening of the Year award, with Jun Kimiyama leading the kitchen.
The Abu Dhabi restaurant is a large space spread over three floors with a minimal, modern design. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, and the open kitchen, where chefs in baseball caps work in full view, sets the informal tone. Counter seats give you the best view of the cooking, while the terrace is the choice for cooler evenings by the water.
The menu is contemporary Japanese, and dishes are designed to share. The Michelin inspectors highlight the chargrilled baby chicken, the prawns and the sashimi, and the kitchen's grilled dishes are a good place to start. Chocolate lovers should save room for the dessert called Take Me To The Moon, one of the restaurant's best-known sweets. Ordering several small plates and a couple of grilled dishes for the table is the best way to get a feel for the menu.
3Fils suits couples, friends and families who want high-quality food without formality, and it is a good-value alternative to the hotel restaurants. It does not serve alcohol, which keeps the focus firmly on the food. Wheelchair access is available.
According to the Michelin Guide, the restaurant is open every day from midday until midnight. Reservations are handled directly by the restaurant, and booking is advisable at weekends and for dinner, when it can be busy. Al Bateen is easy to reach by taxi from anywhere on Abu Dhabi island. Groups should book a table rather than counter seats, which are better suited to couples and solo diners who want to watch the chefs. Prices are moderate for the quality, so it is a good way to experience a well-known Gulf restaurant brand without a fine-dining bill, and the menu offers enough variety for repeat visits. Arrive before sunset if you can and take a terrace table to enjoy the marina as the light fades.
