Good to know
Condesa DF is a design hotel that occupies a neoclassical, French-style building from 1928 on Avenida Veracruz, a tree-lined street between Condesa and Roma, and it belongs to Grupo Habita, a hotel company born in Mexico City nearly three decades ago whose other properties in the capital include Habita, Downtown Mexico and Círculo Mexicano. The group says its approach is to let each destination shape it, and to try to shape the destination in return. The interiors are by the designer India Mahdavi, the architecture by Javier Sánchez and the art by Betsabeé Romero.
There are 40 rooms and suites. In-room features include rain showers, minibars, Bluetooth speakers, safes, MALIN+GOETZ toiletries, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and room service is available 24 hours a day. The Terrace Suite overlooks Parque España. Bicycles are available to guests, and pets are accepted for an extra fee.
The rooftop is the hotel's social heart. The Terraza bar looks over Parque España towards Chapultepec Castle and serves cocktails from a programme led by the Japanese mixologist Keisuke Harada, with a sushi bar alongside. It opens from 14:00 to 23:00 from Sunday to Wednesday and stays open until 1:00 from Thursday to Saturday. Downstairs, El Patio is the courtyard restaurant, serving Mexican-French cooking by chef Antonio Balderas; it is pet-friendly and popular for weekend brunch, and on weekdays it opens from 7:00 to 23:00, which suits an early breakfast before a day of sightseeing. If you plan to cycle, ask about the hotel bicycles when you check in.
The hotel suits couples, creative travellers and anyone who wants to stay among cafés, parks and restaurants rather than in a business district. Because the rooftop bar is busy and open late towards the end of the week, light sleepers may want to ask for a room away from it. Valet parking is available if you are driving, and there are private spaces for events.
The rooftop and the Terrace Suite look over Parque España, and the hotel sits between Condesa and Roma Norte, where Contramar, Rosetta and the BUNA cafés are found. Contact the hotel through the form on its website for bookings and enquiries.
