Why we recommend it

Americano is a cocktail bar and restaurant on Nagindas Master Road in the Fort, reached through narrow lanes lined with engineering workshops, tool shops and photocopying centres. Step inside and the mood changes completely: the room has soaring ceilings, fluted glass windows and a glowing bar at its centre. It was named in the Tatler Best 20 Bars India list in 2026, and it is one of the places Mumbai's drinkers recommend first.

The drinks programme is built on house-made extracts, infusions and tinctures, and the cocktails often draw on the city for their names and ideas. Signature drinks have included the Gateway Tonic, the Malabar Cooler and the Horniman Sour, and the Worli Bird, made with tequila, passion fruit and a fiery house tincture, has been a favourite.

The kitchen is good enough to make Americano a dinner destination in its own right. Neapolitan-style pizzas come out of a custom gold-tiled oven, and the menu of salads and sharing plates has included truffle puffs, shaved Brussels sprouts and sea bass crudo. The tiramisu, served with a monogram, is a popular finish. Order the salads and small plates as soon as you sit down, then decide on pizzas. Sharing is the best approach, as it lets a table of two or four try several of the small plates alongside one or two pizzas.

Americano suits date nights, small groups and solo drinkers, who will feel at home at the bar. It is lively and sociable rather than quiet. Weekend brunch is another good time to come, when sunlight slants in through the high windows. Booking is sensible for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Prices are in the upper-middle range for Mumbai, in line with other leading cocktail bars.

The bar is a short walk from the Kala Ghoda art district, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya and Kala Ghoda Cafe, so it is easy to fit in after a day of sightseeing in the Fort. Taxis can drop you nearby, though the lanes are tight and it may be quicker to walk the final stretch. Trishna and Jimmy Boy are close by if you want dinner elsewhere first.
