Vedic Walks
Jaipur-based tour company running since 2008, best known for its morning and evening heritage walks through the artisans' lanes and bazaars of the Pink City.
Jaipur's first bicycle tour company, founded by two French residents, offering early-morning rides through the Pink City's markets plus longer routes to Amber.
Good to know
Cyclin' Jaipur bills itself as the first bicycle tour in Jaipur. It was founded by Eléonore and Ophélie, two French women living in the city, and operates as a brand of Paris Tourism and Hospitality Pvt Ltd. The idea is simple: get up early, before the heat and the traffic, and see the Pink City from the saddle, stopping at sights, markets, craftspeople and street-food stalls along the way.
The classic morning ride starts at 06:30 and lasts about three hours. Routes have taken in Hawa Mahal and a wholesale vegetable market at its busiest time of day, and the tour finishes with breakfast in a local family home, which many riders remember as a highlight. Bikes and helmets are provided, and reviewers describe the tour as manageable for people without much cycling experience, and describe the guides as knowledgeable about the places you pass.
For a longer challenge, the Royal Trail covers about 20 km, roughly 17 km of it in the saddle, and heads out to Amber Fort; the final climb is steep enough that some riders get off and push. A newer route, the Great Wall of Jaipur Cycle tour, starts at Nahargarh Fort and follows the old defensive walls along the hills, with views down over the walled city.
The company also offers walking tours, day tours and excursions around Jaipur, a multi-day Slow Jaipur programme planned around your interests, and a range of activities such as an Amber hike and Royal Enfield motorbike trips. Private tours can be arranged on request.
Cycling also lets you cover more ground than a walking tour while still stopping easily for photographs, chai or a closer look at a workshop.
Cycling in Indian traffic can be intimidating, but the early start makes a real difference, as streets are calm in the first hours after dawn. Wear closed shoes and comfortable clothes, bring sun protection, and carry a light layer in winter, when early mornings are cool. The rides suit active couples, friends and families with older children. Book online through the company's website, and confirm the meeting point and any hotel pick-up details when you reserve.
