Why we recommend it

Xin Rong Ji is a restaurant group specialising in Taizhou cooking, and its Beijing flagship on Xinyuan South Road is one of only two restaurants in the city with three Michelin stars. The Beijing government's report on the Michelin Guide Beijing 2026 confirmed it among the two three-star restaurants, alongside Chao Shang Chao. It is on the ground floor of the East Tower of Genesis Beijing, in Chaoyang.

The Michelin Guide describes an elegant but relaxed modern Chinese dining room. The menu concentrates on Taizhou cooking and on fish from the East China Sea, so seafood is the main draw. One dish is unique to this branch: a 28-day-old baby Peking duck, which must be ordered in advance. The guide also recommends the duck stew with fish maw and taro.

Because the restaurant is at the very top end of Beijing dining, expect prices to match, at the highest level of the Michelin Guide's price scale. It suits food enthusiasts, special celebrations and business entertaining. The Michelin Guide also lists it as good for solo dining, and there is counter seating as well as tables.

Bookings are handled by the restaurant directly; the Michelin Guide lists the number as +86 10 6501 5501. Book well ahead, and pre-order the baby duck when you reserve if you want to try it. The restaurant has air conditioning, a car park and an interesting wine list according to the guide, and credit cards are accepted. Pets are not allowed.

Xin Rong Ji also has other branches in Beijing, including one on Jianguomenwai Street and one on Jinrong Street in Xicheng, each of which has held a Michelin star, but the Xinyuan South Road restaurant is the flagship and the only one with the baby duck. Seafood from the East China Sea is at the heart of the menu.

The Bulgari Hotel Beijing is in the same Xinyuan South Road complex, according to Beijing's official tourism site, so the restaurant is convenient for guests there and for anyone staying in the east of the city. The baby duck must be pre-ordered, so mention it when you book.
