Restaurant
Celele
Chef Jaime Rodríguez's acclaimed Getsemaní restaurant, reinterpreting the produce and traditions of Colombia's Caribbean region; No. 48 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025.
The Getsemaní branch of Bogotá's Salón Tropical, serving ceviche, grilled seafood and tropical fruit in a garden with a mango tree and live Caribbean music.
Good to know
Salón Tropical began in Bogotá, where it became known for bringing Caribbean food and atmosphere to the capital, and in 2024 it opened a Cartagena location in Getsemaní, as El Espectador reported. In a sense the restaurant has come home: its whole concept is a celebration of Caribbean culture, using local products to showcase the seafood and tropical flavours of the coast.
The kitchen is led by chef Andrius Didziulis, described by El Espectador as the creative force behind the menu. Expect ceviche, freshly grilled seafood and a wide use of tropical fruit; two.travel adds that the fish is sourced directly from local fishermen and the produce from local farms, with a catch of the day alongside beef and vegetable dishes. Two.travel's 2026 guide, which describes the cooking as seafood-focused haute cuisine, lists it at the top of its Cartagena recommendations for seafood and Colombian cooking, on Calle Lomba in Getsemaní.
The setting is a big part of the experience. The restaurant occupies a historic garden with a mango tree and palm trees, which El Espectador describes as almost mystical, and at night there is live music, including son cubano and other Caribbean rhythms. That combination makes it a good choice for an evening that moves from dinner into music without changing venue.
It suits couples and groups who want a lively, informal dinner with good seafood, and it is a natural first stop for a night out in Getsemaní. Prices are upper mid-range according to two.travel. Two.travel recommends booking, although it is not compulsory, and suggests smart-casual dress. Opening hours are not given in the sources we could verify, so check before you go.
Calle Lomba is in Getsemaní, close to the Plaza de la Trinidad and Calle Larga, and the Torre del Reloj is a short walk away. Other places nearby include Celele, La Cocina de Pepina and Café Havana, so you can easily combine dinner here with drinks or salsa afterwards. Allow around two hours if you plan to stay for the music, and dress lightly: Cartagena averages about 27°C all year and the garden is outdoors.
