Café
Truth Coffee Roasting
Truth Coffee Roasting on Buitenkant Street is a steampunk-styled warehouse café where coffee is roasted on site and breakfast is served all day until 16:00.
On Sea Point's Regent Road, Kleinsky's is a deli and bakery serving bagels, breakfasts and New York-style classics from 08:00 to 17:00 every day.
Good to know
Kleinsky's is a deli and bakery on Regent Road, the main shopping street of Sea Point, a few blocks inland from the Sea Point promenade. It describes itself as serving bagels, breakfasts, noshes and an array of New York-style classics, and it has become a neighbourhood favourite for a relaxed breakfast or lunch.
Bagels are the heart of the menu, baked and served with a range of fillings, from simple cream cheese to more substantial deli sandwiches. The menu also covers cooked breakfasts and other deli dishes inspired by the Jewish delis of New York, which fits well in Sea Point, an area with a long-established Jewish community. Coffee and drinks round out the offer, and baked goods can also be taken away.
The deli opens every day from 08:00 to 17:00, which makes it a reliable choice for breakfast or lunch seven days a week. It is popular, especially at weekends, when locals come for a late breakfast after a walk or run on the promenade, so expect a wait at peak times. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and it suits families, couples and solo travellers.
Sea Point is one of the best areas in Cape Town for a walk. The promenade runs for several kilometres along the Atlantic, with lawns, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and the Sea Point Pavilion swimming pool, and it is busy with walkers, runners and cyclists from early morning. A walk along the seafront followed by a bagel at Kleinsky's is a good way to spend a morning without a car.
Regent Road is well served by MyCiTi buses running between the city centre and the Atlantic Seaboard, and taxis and ride-hailing services are easy to find. Street parking is available but can be busy. Kleinsky's is also close to the Mojo Market food hall and many of Sea Point's hotels and apartments, so it is a convenient breakfast stop if you are staying in the area.
If you are staying elsewhere in the city, Sea Point is an easy trip by MyCiTi bus or taxi, and a morning here can continue along the coast to Clifton and Camps Bay. Bring a jacket for the promenade, as the wind off the Atlantic can be cool even on sunny days.
